{"id":724,"date":"2024-09-22T22:44:31","date_gmt":"2024-09-22T21:44:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/adesanyapartners.com\/blog\/?p=724"},"modified":"2024-09-22T22:44:32","modified_gmt":"2024-09-22T21:44:32","slug":"the-new-nigeria-police-force-npf-digital-crm-its-benefits-and-how-to-apply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adesanyapartners.com\/blog\/the-new-nigeria-police-force-npf-digital-crm-its-benefits-and-how-to-apply\/","title":{"rendered":"THE NEW NIGERIA POLICE FORCE (NPF) DIGITAL CRM, ITS BENEFITS AND HOW TO APPLY?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/adesanyapartners.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Police.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"387\" height=\"859\" src=\"https:\/\/adesanyapartners.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Police.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-726\" srcset=\"https:\/\/adesanyapartners.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Police.jpeg 387w, https:\/\/adesanyapartners.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Police-135x300.jpeg 135w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 387px) 100vw, 387px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For over 60 years since the establishment of the Central Motor Registry by the Nigeria Police Force, the mandatory registration of vehicle information was done manually, and therefore prone to errors and integrity challenges.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To address the rising sophistication of vehicular crime in the country, the Nigeria Police Force in April 2023, introduced the digitalized Central Motor Registry Information System&nbsp;&nbsp;(e-CMR)&nbsp;for the seamless management of every motor vehicle and its ownership.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discontinuation of the manual processing and issuance of all CMR documents\/certificates and migration to the digitalized&nbsp;NPF CMR portal&nbsp;consequently makes all other CMR certificates previously issued by the NPF invalid.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 29, 2024 however, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, ordered the immediate suspension of the proposed enforcement of the e-CMR, initially scheduled to commence on July 29, 2024.&nbsp;&nbsp;The suspension was aims to provide ample opportunity for mass enlightenment and education of all citizens and residents on the process, benefits, and effectiveness of the e-CMR in solving vehicle-related crimes and protecting individual and corporate vehicle ownership.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the e-CRM becomes operational, as we still expect new take-off date, it will be valid and renewable every year. Click link below for contact details of E-CRM office per state:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cmris.npf.gov.ng\/contact\">https:\/\/cmris.npf.gov.ng\/contact<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BENEFITS OF THE DIGITAL CMR<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(1) To make policing easier. For example \u201cIf your vehicle is registered with the NPF E-CMR and gets stolen, you can instantly flag it as stolen through your online profile.\u201d The system then alerts all field officers nationwide within seconds, improving the chances of swift recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(2) Eliminate the habit of police officers stopping to check papers as police officers are now equipped with cutting-edge tech to verify documents in real-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(3) Simplify vehicle-related services offered by the Nigeria police such as ownership transfers, license renewals, and updates to engine or chassis details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(4) The comprehensive database of the e-CMR portal will serve as a deterrent to potential criminals who might use vehicles for illegal activities. The knowledge that the Police have access to accurate information can discourage criminal behaviour.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(5)The digitalized CMR will also help to expedite investigations, particularly in cases of accidents or disputes involving motor vehicles, thereby providing quick resolution and reducing inconvenience for citizens.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(6) The ability of the Force to maintain accurate vehicular information contributes to national security. It ensures that vehicles associated with criminal activities can be tracked&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>REQUIREMENTS FOR E-CRM APPLICATION ON THE ONLINE PLATFORM DEDICATED FOR APPLICATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(1) For individuals: National Identification Number (NIN).<br>Enter names as it appears on the NIN. Do not include titles like: Rev, Engr, Dr, Alh,Prof, Chief, Hon etc<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(2) For corporate entity: Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Joint Tax Board TIN<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(3) For corporate entities, CAC Registration number. Registration number should begin with RC or BN or IT as applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(4) Email address, phone number, and house address.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(5) Vehicle\u2019s license number, plate number, chassis number, and engine number are required.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(6) ATM card to make payments on the online application platform.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(7) Information whether previous owner has CRM or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If YES, go ahead and create a profile for the vehicle and ask previous owner to to \u201c Initiate Change of Ownership\u201d form their own profile<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If NO, still go ahead and create a profile for the vehicle and follow up prompts to apply for CRM Certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HOW TO APPLY FOR THE E-CRM CERTIFICATE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Application is done online and on Do-It-Yourself basis. It has 12 Steps as follows<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 1:&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Visit the official website at&nbsp;https:\/\/cmris.npf.gov.ng&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 2:&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Click on Get Started&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 3: Create Profile<br>(if Profile has been created earlier, go to step 8)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(a) Profile type \u2013 Personal or Organisation&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(b) Identification \u2013 NIN for Personal, TIN for Organisation&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(c) Enter your identification number&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(d) Click Verify&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 4:&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>If identity is verified, click Continue&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 5: Confirm email and phone number&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Email is no longer valid, select&nbsp;No&nbsp;and enter a valid email&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the Phone Number is not current, select&nbsp;No&nbsp;and enter a current phone number&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click Confirm to receive a token through the current phone number and valid email address&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 6:&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Enter the token and click Confirm Token, if confirmed, click Continue to proceed&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 7: Personal Information Page<br>(Review uploaded NIN\/TIN information)&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the Current State of Residence and Current LGA of Residence&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confirm if your NIN\/TIN address is the same as your current address. If&nbsp;No, enter your Current Residential Address&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you selected a wrong response, click on Change Selection to select the right response&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Create and confirm your password&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click Next to proceed&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 8: Apply for CMR Motor Vehicle Information Certificate&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Log in using the following access credentials created during the Profile creation process; Username (Email or Phone Number), and Password (created in the fourth bullet point of Step 7)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click Login&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 9: Choose CMR Request&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(a) CMR Request \u2013 Select a Request&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(b) CMR Sub-Request \u2013 Select Sub-Request&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(c) Select Number of Requests:<br>(i) Single \u2013 for one motor vehicle<br>(ii) Fleet \u2013 for more than one motor vehicle in application&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 10: Vehicle Details&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Select Vehicle Category and Plate Number Type&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enter Vehicle Details :<br>(i) State Licensing Officer (where the vehicle was registered\/licensed)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(ii) State Requesting Form (where the applicant is requesting CMR service)&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 11: Request Confirmation<br>(carefully review information for accuracy and genuineness in this stage)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click Proceed to view the invoice and make payment&nbsp;.
